Privacy policy

What Solicitors Guide does with personal data, why, with which suppliers, and how to act on your rights under the UK GDPR.

Who is responsible

Solicitors Guide (solicitorsguide.uk) is the controller of the data covered by this page, and info@solicitorsguide.uk is the address for questions. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 set the rules we follow.

What we collect and why

Visitors: IP address, browser and pages opened, used for site security and reliability. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

Messages: the text, the sender’s email address and anything else included, used to reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

Firms with accounts: sign-in address and firm details, used to look after the page and any paid plan. Lawful basis: performance of our contract with the firm.

Please do not tell us about a legal matter, send documents or share anything about your health, family or immigration status. It serves no purpose for us, it is not confidential once it reaches us, and we delete it if it arrives.

Cookies and advertising

No adverts appear, and the site places no cookies for advertising or measurement. Cloudflare still counts visits, but without cookies. The single cookie we use is technical: it keeps a firm logged in to its account. Because it is strictly necessary, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations do not require consent, so there is no banner.

Who else handles data

Cloudflare supplies hosting, security, traffic counts without cookies and our email routing. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is sending a form. Stripe processes payment for the plans, and card numbers stay with Stripe. Both are US companies, and for transfers abroad we rely on the protections UK law requires.

How long we keep it

Security logs are deleted once they stop being useful for protection. We keep an email until the matter is closed, an account while it stays open, and an invoice for the period the tax rules require.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to have errors fixed or the data deleted, to limit or contest its use, and to get a portable copy. Email info@solicitorsguide.uk to do so. If you are not satisfied with our reply, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, takes complaints at ico.org.uk.

Children

We write for adults and do not set out to collect data about children.

Changes

This page will change if our data practices do.
